How It All Started

Eighteen months after we lost Amy some friends of ours decided to hold a concert in her memory at The Fairfield Halls, Croydon to raise funds for The Leukaemia and Lymphoma Society. It was a huge success which raised almost £9,000. Helping to organise the concert had given us something to focus on in the very dark days after losing Amy, we felt something good had come from something so terrible.

This gave us the idea to form our own charity with the aim of making memories that last for young patients. So in January 2010 - AWMT was born! We chose the name 'The Magpie Trust' because Amy was a  Newcastle United fan whose mascot is The Mighty Magpie, so we think Amy would approve.  Our charity logo is based on a huge magpie collage made by Amy whilst she was in hospital.

Strangely enough Amy always used to say that one day she would become famous. Through our little charity Amy’s name is known by so many people so … Amy Wallace is famous!
